Ridge View Is On The Move
Updated

Ridge View Elementary Families,

Watch this video to learn more about what changes are coming next year!

Many of you already know about the exciting changes in the works for Ridge View Elementary that start this summer, and we want to take a moment to update you on what to expect for next school year.

As part of the capital projects bond that Kennewick School District passed in 2019, Ridge View Elementary will be replaced with a new two-story school building. Our old building will be torn down and rebuilt on the same site. We estimate that construction will take 1.5 to 2 years to complete. Depending on construction timelines, we may move into the new building between January 2024 and August 2024.

While we are waiting for our new school to be built, students and staff will be temporarily relocated to the Fruitland Building, near Lampson Field and Kennewick High School.

Bus transportation will be provided for all non-transfer students. This includes students who were previously identified as living in the “walk zone” of the school and who are not currently using bus transportation now. If you are one of these students currently in the walk-zone, we ask you to fill out the transportation form that will be coming home with your student so we can finalize how many buses will be needed.

Our daily school schedule will remain the same, starting at 8:40 a.m. and ending at 3:17 p.m. We will continue to have early release on Wednesdays.

While students are at Fruitland, they will get to eat their meals in a cafeteria!

Students will also have access to the playground, located just east of the Fruitland Building, and Lampson Stadium during the school day.

One change that may affect our families is that the YMCA before- and after-school child care program will not be offered at Fruitland. Students enrolled in YMCA child care will be transported by bus to and from the Fuerza Elementary YMCA site.

We want to make sure that we address any concerns or questions you have about the move to Fruitland. You are welcome to reach out to us at any time at (509) 222-5800.

Sincerely,
